Leftoverture is the fourth studio album by the American progressive rock band Kansas, released on October 21, 1976 by Kirshner Records. The album was recorded in Colorado with producer Jeff Glixman, who helped the band achieve a more polished and sophisticated sound . The album features eight tracks, six of which were written by guitarist and keyboardist Kerry Livgren, who was inspired by his spiritual quest and his interest in classical music . The album includes some of the band’s most famous songs, such as “Carry On Wayward Son”, “The Wall”, and “Magnum Opus” . The album showcases the band’s musical talent and versatility, as well as their use of complex arrangements, harmonies, and instrumentation. Leftoverture received positive reviews from critics and fans, and became a commercial breakthrough for the band, reaching No. 5 on the US Billboard 200 chart and No. 28 on the UK Albums Chart. It has sold over five million copies in the US and has been certified five times platinum by the RIAA.
