The Style Council – Our Favourite Shop VG+/VG+

$30.00 Inc. GST

Our Favourite Shop is the second studio album by the English pop group The Style Council, formed by Paul Weller and Mick Talbot. The album was released on June 8, 1985 by Polydor Records and was recorded in less than a year after the band’s debut Café Bleu. The album features a variety of musical styles, such as soul, jazz, rap, and rock, and guest vocalists, including Lenny Henry, Tracie Young, and Dee C Lee.

The album is a social and political commentary on the state of Britain in the mid-1980s, with songs that criticize racism, consumerism, Thatcherism, and the lack of opposition to the status quo. Some of the notable tracks are “Walls Come Tumbling Down!”, “Come to Milton Keynes”, “The Lodgers”, and “Boy Who Cried Wolf”, which were all released as singles with music videos. The album also contains a poem by Sri Chinmoy, Weller’s spiritual guru, on the back cover.

Our Favourite Shop was a commercial and critical success, reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart and being certified gold by the BPI.
