$50.00 Inc. GST

Duty Now For the Future is the second studio album by American rock band Devo, released on July 17, 1979 by Warner Bros. Records. Produced by Ken Scott, the album was recorded between September 1978 and early 1979 at Chateau Recorders in Hollywood. The majority of the songs on the album had been performed in Devo’s live set as early as 1976.

Duty Now For the Future is a more experimental and eclectic album than Devo’s debut, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! The album features a more prominent use of synthesizers and electronic instruments, as well as a more diverse range of musical styles, from new wave to post-punk to funk. The album’s lyrics are also more complex and satirical, dealing with themes such as technology, consumerism, and social alienation.

Duty Now For the Future was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 21 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album also spawned several hit singles, including “Wiggle It”, “Secret Agent Man”, and “Jocko Homo”. The album is considered to be one of the most important and influential new wave albums of all time.
