Gilles Peterson ‎– Timeless Jazz Classics Volume 3 (Yellow, RSD 2026)

Timeless Jazz Classics Volume 3 reflects Gilles Peterson’s curatorial instinct for connecting eras, moods, and stylistic threads into a coherent listening arc. Rather than a simple compilation, it plays like a guided tour through the corners of jazz that shaped Peterson’s own sensibility—rhythmic, soulful, exploratory, and always attentive to groove. The sequencing gives the set its character: tracks flow with a DJ’s sense of momentum, shifting from spiritual uplift to modal tension to more hard‑swinging passages without ever feeling abrupt. What emerges is a portrait of jazz as a living continuum, where deep cuts and cult favourites sit comfortably alongside more canonical moments. The sound is warm, open, and inviting, emphasising the emotional through‑line rather than academic completeness. It’s a collection that rewards both close listening and casual immersion, capturing the breadth of Peterson’s taste and the timelessness of the music he champions.
