$39.00 Inc. GST

Standards, Vol. 1 is a jazz album by pianist Keith Jarrett, bassist Gary Peacock, and drummer Jack DeJohnette, released in 1983 by ECM Records. It is the first album in Jarrett’s “Standards Trio” series, and features five classic jazz standards: “Meaning of the Blues”, “All the Things You Are”, “It Never Entered My Mind”, “The Masquerade Is Over”, and “God Bless the Child”.

Recorded in January 1983 at the Power Station in New York City, Standards, Vol. 1 is a masterful display of trio playing. Jarrett, Peacock, and DeJohnette are all masters of their instruments, and their interplay on this album is simply breathtaking. Jarrett’s piano playing is lyrical and expressive, while Peacock and DeJohnette provide a solid and supportive foundation.

The album features a wide range of moods, from the soulful and introspective “Meaning of the Blues” to the upbeat and swinging “All the Things You Are”. Jarrett’s improvisations are consistently inventive and inspiring, and he never loses sight of the melody or the overall structure of the songs.
