Mariah Carey – Caution

Released in 2018, Mariah Carey’s “Caution” marked a turning point. It was her first studio album in four years, and it showcased a renewed creative spirit. This concise collection of songs, reminiscent of her earlier triumphs like “Music Box,” leaned into a smoother, more mature R&B sound. While the album featured collaborations with artists like Ty Dolla $ign and Slick Rick, it remained a Mariah masterclass, with her iconic vocals taking center stage. “Caution” experimented subtly, incorporating elements of pop and hip-hop without sacrificing the core R&B feel. Thematic threads of love, from the thrill of new romance to the sting of heartbreak, weaved throughout the album, creating a cohesive and personal listening experience.
