Model/Actriz – Pirouette

Model/Actriz’s second studio album, Pirouette, released on May 2, 2025, is a bold and theatrical evolution from their abrasive debut Dogsbody. Where that first record lurked in the shadows of queer nightlife, Pirouette steps into the spotlight—campy, transgressive, and unapologetically flamboyant. It’s a sonic spectacle that fuses noise rock, dance-punk, and industrial textures with pop sensibilities and cabaret flair.

Frontman Cole Haden transforms personal demons into public performance, channeling the energy of pop divas like Janet Jackson and Kylie Minogue to explore themes of shame, desire, and queer identity. The album’s lyrical arc traces a coming-out narrative, moving from internalized fear to radiant self-expression. Tracks like “Cinderella” revisit childhood memories with blistering honesty, while “Diva” and “Poppy” oscillate between infectious hooks and guttural noise, capturing the tension between vulnerability and bravado.

Produced by Seth Manchester and released by True Panther Sounds, Pirouette is both a sonic and emotional high-wire act. It retains the metallic din and rhythmic aggression of their debut, but adds layers of melody, theatricality, and introspection. The result is a record that doesn’t just demand attention—it commands it, strutting through discomfort and catharsis with poise and glitter.
