Sugar – File Under: Easy Listening The Singles Collection (3x Coloured Vinyl, RSD 2026)

File Under: Easy Listening – The Singles Collection distills Sugar’s melodic punch into a tight, high‑impact set, highlighting the band’s gift for pairing Bob Mould’s emotional heft with sharp, hook‑driven power‑pop. The songs hit with immediacy—crunchy guitars, driving rhythms, and choruses that feel both cathartic and tightly engineered. Even in compilation form, there’s a strong sense of cohesion: bright, buzzing textures balanced by Mould’s grainy vocals and introspective edge. The production is clean but still muscular, giving the tracks a clarity that underscores their craftsmanship without sanding off their bite. It’s a concise snapshot of Sugar’s late‑period sound—melodic, forceful, and built on the tension between noise and tunefulness that made the band so distinctive.
