The Rolling Stones – Time Waits For No One (Anthology 1971-1977) VG/VG

$20.00 Inc. GST

Time Waits for No One is one of the hidden gems in the Rolling Stones catalogue, appearing on the 1974 album It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll. Unlike the band’s harder, riff-driven classics, the song is reflective and melancholy, built around a gentle Latin-influenced groove and lyrics that meditate on the passage of time, ageing and the fleeting nature of life.

Mick Jagger delivers one of his most restrained and heartfelt vocal performances, while the arrangement gradually unfolds into a lush, atmospheric piece. The track is particularly renowned for guitarist Mick Taylor’s extended closing solo, widely regarded as one of the finest performances ever recorded by a Rolling Stones guitarist. His fluid, lyrical playing adds an emotional depth that elevates the song beyond a typical rock ballad.

Although it was never one of the band’s biggest hits, “Time Waits for No One” has developed a strong reputation among fans and critics as one of the Stones’ most beautiful and underrated recordings. Its combination of philosophical lyrics, elegant musicianship and Taylor’s remarkable solo makes it a standout moment from the band’s 1970s peak.
