The Style Council – Introducing VG+/VG+

Introducing The Style Council is a mini-LP by the English band The Style Council, released in 1983. It was their debut release, and it was only available in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Japan, and the Netherlands. The mini-LP features tracks from the band’s first three UK singles, as well as club mix versions of “Long Hot Summer” and “Money-Go-Round”.

The Style Council was formed by Paul Weller, the former singer, songwriter and guitarist of the new wave / mod revival band The Jam, and Mick Talbot, the former keyboardist of Dexys Midnight Runners and other bands. The band aimed to explore a more soulful and diverse musical direction than The Jam, incorporating elements of pop, new wave, funk and jazz. The mini-LP showcases the band’s versatility and creativity, from the upbeat and catchy “Speak Like a Child” to the smooth and sophisticated “The Paris Match”. The mini-LP also features guest appearances by Maria Muldaur, Ry Cooder and Curtis Mayfield.
