Van Morrison – Tupelo Honey VG+/VG+

Van Morrison’s Tupelo Honey is one of his warmest and most inviting albums, blending folk, country, soul, rhythm and blues, and rock into a rich and deeply heartfelt collection of songs. Recorded during a period of personal contentment, the album radiates a sense of domestic happiness and emotional ease, with Morrison exploring themes of love, devotion, and simple pleasures through performances that feel both intimate and effortless.

The music unfolds with a relaxed confidence, allowing Morrison’s expressive voice to take centre stage amid tasteful arrangements and exceptional musicianship. Country influences are more prominent than on many of his earlier records, yet the album remains unmistakably his, combining lyrical sincerity with a natural sense of groove and spiritual warmth. The songs are given room to breathe, creating an atmosphere that feels unhurried and genuine. Beautifully crafted and emotionally generous, Tupelo Honey stands as one of Morrison’s most accessible and enduring works, capturing an artist at peace with himself and fully immersed in the joy of making music.
