WIRE – 154

“154” is the third studio album by the English post-punk band Wire, released in September 1979. The album was recorded at Advision Studios in West London and produced by Mike Thorne. It represents a progression from their earlier minimalist punk rock style, incorporating slower tempos, fuller song structures, and a more prominent use of guitar effects, synthesizers, and electronics. The album’s title refers to the number of gigs the band had played up to that point. Tracks like “Map Ref. 41°N 93°W” and “A Mutual Friend” showcase Wire’s experimental approach, making “154” a significant work in the post-punk genre.
