Released in 1981, Sirocco is the second studio album by Australian pub rock band Australian Crawl. It marked a significant leap in popularity for the band, becoming their first #1 album on the Australian charts and staying there for six weeks. Sirocco also achieved triple platinum certification in Australia.
The album built on the success of their debut, “The Boys Light Up,” featuring a mix of energetic guitar work, catchy melodies, and introspective lyrics. It included hit singles like “Oh No Not You Again,” a song about a young couple’s troubles in paradise, and “Errol,” a tribute to Australian actor Errol Flynn, whose yacht even lent its name to the album.
Sirocco showcased the songwriting talents of both James Reyne and newcomer Guy McDonough, who joined the band as a sixth member and co-wrote several tracks. The album is considered a cornerstone of Australian rock, solidifying the band’s place as one of the country’s most beloved acts.
