Barry Gibb’s soaring voice leads the charge, his brothers Robin and Maurice weaving in rich harmonies that glide effortlessly over a bed of strings, horns, and rhythm sections that sparkle with studio polish.

The album opens dramatically with “Tragedy,” a pulsing anthem of heartbreak fueled by thunderous synthesizers and epic crescendos. “Too Much Heaven,” by contrast, slows the tempo to a gentle ballad, its sentimentality made more poignant by the fact that all royalties were donated to UNICEF.
