Medúlla is the fifth studio album by Icelandic singer Björk, released on August 30, 2004. It is an experimental pop, a cappella, and beatboxing album that explores themes of the human body and its sounds. The album was produced by Björk and Mark Bell, and features collaborations with Mike Patton, Rahzel, Tanya Tagaq, and others.

Medúlla was a critical and commercial success, reaching number one in the UK and number 15 in the US. The album was praised for its originality, creativity, and Björk’s vocal performance. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronica/Dance Album.

The album’s title, Medúlla, is Latin for “marrow”. Björk has said that the album is about the “inside of the body” and the “sounds that come from the inside”. The album’s music is made up almost entirely of vocals, including human beatboxing, throat singing, and mouth music. Björk has said that she was inspired to create an a cappella album after hearing the work of Inuit throat singers.
