Chat Pile – Who Loves the Son (Ice Blue Vinyl)

Chat Pile’s Who Loves the Sun is a bleak, slow‑burning meditation on despair that trades the band’s usual violent immediacy for something quieter but no less unsettling. Built around a trudging, repetitive groove, the track feels like being stuck inside a single, looping thought, its heaviness coming not from distortion but from emotional weight. The vocals hover between resignation and quiet anguish, delivering imagery that suggests a person hollowed out by grief or disconnection. Instead of erupting, the song sinks deeper, letting its minimal arrangement emphasise the numbness at its core. There’s a deliberate plainness to the guitars and drums, as if the band is stripping away every distraction to expose the raw, uncomfortable mood beneath. In its restraint, the track becomes one of Chat Pile’s most affecting pieces, capturing the suffocating stillness of depression with stark, unadorned clarity.
