Hugo Largo – Drum VG+/VG+

Hugo Largo’s Drum is a strikingly unconventional album that occupies a space between dream pop, art rock, ambient music, and the avant-garde. Built around the band’s unusual lineup of two bass guitars, violin, and Mimi Goese’s haunting vocals, the record creates an atmosphere that feels both intimate and otherworldly. Produced by Michael Stipe and released through Brian Eno’s Opal label, the album trades traditional rock structures for mood, texture, and emotional resonance. The music unfolds with a quiet intensity, combining hypnotic bass lines, shimmering violin passages, and ethereal melodies into a sound that is simultaneously sparse and immersive.
