Ihsahn – After

$60.95 Inc. GST

“After” is the third studio album by Norwegian black metal musician Ihsahn, released on January 26, 2010. This album is the final installment in a planned trilogy that began with “The Adversary” and continued with “angL”. The trilogy explores themes of conflict, resolution, and introspection.

“After” departs from the more intense and niche-inspired sound of the first two albums, embracing a mellower and more atmospheric approach. The album features a mix of black metal, progressive metal, and post-black metal elements, with Ihsahn utilizing eight-string guitars and incorporating a saxophone played by Jurgen Munkeby of Enslaved.

Tracks like “The Barren Lands” and “Frozen Lakes on Mars” showcase Ihsahn’s ability to blend harsh and melodic elements, creating a unique and evocative listening experience. The album’s title reflects its theme of moving beyond conflict and exploring the abstract essences of inspiration.
