Mastodon – Marrow Deep

Released in August 2026 via Loma Vista Recordings, Marrow Deep is the ninth studio album by American progressive metal titans Mastodon. Marking a pivotal transitional chapter in the band’s career, the 12-track record is their first full-length effort following the departure and subsequent passing of founding guitarist Brent Hinds, as well as the studio debut of guitarist Nick Johnston alongside the core trio of Troy Sanders, Brann Dailor, and Bill Kelliher. Co-produced by the band with Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou, the album channels profound grief and reinvention into a dense, emotionally charged sonic canvas. Blending the heavy, crushing sludge of their early catalogue with intricate, spacey progressive rock arrangements and ambient groove metal, Marrow Deep balances raw visceral aggression with complex melodic beauty. Highlighted by tracks such as “Barbarians Blood” and “Your Ghost Again”, it stands as a cathartic, powerful testament to Mastodon’s enduring creative evolution.
