The Shining is a posthumous album by the legendary hip hop producer and rapper J Dilla, who passed away on February 10, 2006. The album was incomplete at the time of his death and was finished by his friend and fellow producer Karriem Riggins. The album features guest appearances from Common, Busta Rhymes, D’Angelo, Madlib, Black Thought and more. The album showcases J Dilla’s signature soulful and eclectic beats, as well as his skills as an MC on tracks like “Baby” and “Won’t Do”. The album was released on August 22, 2006, through BBE Records. It received critical acclaim and is considered one of J Dilla’s best works.
