KGLW + TFS ‎– Hat Jam NM/NM

Hat Jam, released in 2022, is a wild, collaborative experiment between two of Australia’s most adventurous bands—King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard (KGLW) and Tropical Fuck Storm (TFS). Born from a late-night jam session during the Fishing for Fishies era, the album is split into two sprawling tracks that showcase each group’s flair for psychedelic chaos and genre-defying soundscapes.

Side A features “The Dripping Tap,” a nearly 18-minute epic by KGLW that surges with hypnotic riffs, shifting rhythms, and kaleidoscopic energy. It’s a masterclass in jam-band dynamics, building from a slow groove into a full-blown sonic eruption. Side AA flips the mood with “Satanic Slumber Party,” a three-part suite co-created by both bands that leans into noise rock, surreal textures, and anarchic humor. It’s dense, unpredictable, and gleefully unhinged—like a midnight séance conducted with fuzz pedals and broken synths.

Released as a limited edition 12″ vinyl on recycled wax, Hat Jam is more than a split—it’s a celebration of musical mischief and creative freedom. The cover art by Jason Galea adds a visual punch to the album’s offbeat spirit.
