$175.00 Inc. GST

Bl_ck B_st_rds is the second and final studio album by American hip hop group KMD, consisting of brothers Zev Love X and DJ Subroc. The album was recorded in 1993 and was supposed to be released in May 1994 by Elektra Records, but it was canceled due to the controversial cover art, which depicts a Sambo figure being lynched. The cover art was intended to be a commentary on the racism and stereotypes that black people face in America, but Elektra deemed it too offensive and dropped the group from the label. DJ Subroc was also killed in a car accident shortly before the album’s completion, adding to the tragedy of the project.

The album remained unreleased for six years until it was finally issued by Readyrock Records on May 15, 2000. The album features guest appearances from MF Grimm, Earthquake, Kurious, Lord Sear, and Hard 2 Obtain. The production is mostly handled by DJ Subroc and Zev Love X, who later changed his name to MF Doom. The album showcases the group’s hardcore hip hop style, with witty and clever lyrics, dark humor, and social commentary. The album also contains samples from various genres, such as jazz, soul, rock, and reggae.

Bl_ck B_st_rds is widely regarded as a classic and influential album in the underground hip hop scene. It has received positive reviews from critics, who praised its lyrical content, production, and originality.
