Shawty Pimp – Still Comin’ Real

Shawty Pimp’s Still Comin’ Real is a defining release from the Memphis underground, capturing the laid-back, hypnotic sound that helped shape Southern hip hop in the mid-1990s. Built on deep basslines, smooth synthesizers, and unhurried drum machine grooves, the album creates a hazy atmosphere that feels both relaxed and streetwise. Shawty Pimp delivers his rhymes with confidence and restraint, allowing the mood of the music to take centre stage while weaving tales of hustling, ambition, and everyday survival.

What makes the album so enduring is its sense of authenticity. The production is raw and unpolished in the best possible way, giving the record a warmth and character that many more expensive recordings lack. The combination of G-funk influences and Memphis’ darker, moodier aesthetic results in a sound that is uniquely its own. Smooth, atmospheric, and deeply influential, Still Comin’ Real remains a cult classic that represents the spirit of underground Southern rap at its most compelling.
