Slum Village – Detroit Deli (A Taste Of Detroit) (RSD 2024 – Clear w/ Orange Splatter)

$69.95 Inc. GST

Released in 2004, Detroit Deli (A Taste Of Detroit) is the fourth studio album by Detroit hip hop group Slum Village. It arrived shortly after founding member Baatin left the group, putting pressure on T3 and Elzhi to deliver a worthy successor to their critically acclaimed album Trinity.

Featuring production from a team including J Dilla, Black Milk, and a rising Kanye West, the album offered a well-rounded Detroit hip hop experience. The first single, “Selfish,” became the group’s highest charting hit thanks in part to Kanye’s production and John Legend’s soulful vocals on the chorus. Despite the single’s success, the album itself received a mixed critical reception, with some praising its production and lyricism while others felt it didn’t quite capture the magic of Slum Village’s earlier work. Regardless, Detroit Deli (A Taste Of Detroit) remains a notable entry in the group’s catalog and a solid listen for fans of Detroit hip hop.
