Stray Dags ‎– Lemons Alive! VG+/VG+

Lemons Alive! captures Stray Dags in full scrappy, street‑level swing, a live document that feels more like being dropped into the middle of a chaotic Sydney pub than listening to a conventional record. The band plays with a loose, jangling energy—guitars slightly frayed at the edges, rhythms tumbling forward with a kind of joyful impatience, and vocals that ride the line between shout‑along camaraderie and sharp, wiry attitude. There’s a raw charm in how unvarnished it all is: songs snap into place through momentum rather than precision, and the crowd noise, room ambience, and rough edges become part of the music’s personality. What makes it work is the sense of immediacy; you can hear the sweat, the humour, the unfiltered spark of a band thriving on instinct. It’s a snapshot of early‑’80s Australian underground energy—messy, melodic, and completely alive.
