The Clash is the debut studio album by the English punk rock band The Clash, released on April 8, 1977 by CBS Records. The album was recorded and mixed in three weeks in February 1977 for a low budget of £4,0002. The album features 14 tracks, mostly written by the band’s guitarists and vocalists Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, except for the reggae cover “Police and Thieves”. The album covers various themes such as social alienation, unemployment, racial conflict, drug use, and the realities of living in London.

The album is considered one of the greatest and most influential punk albums of all time, and has been included in several lists of the best albums ever by publications such as Rolling Stone, NME, Pitchfork, and Mojo. The album also spawned two singles: “White Riot” and “Remote Control”, which became anthems of the punk movement.  The Clash is an album that captures the energy, anger, and passion of the punk rock scene in the late 1970s. It is an album that challenges the status quo and expresses the voice of a generation.
