Frank Zappa’s Joe’s Garage Act I kicks off a wild rock opera ride. This first act introduces us to Joe, a regular guy who owns a gas station and garage. The music, a twisted blend of rock, jazz, and Zappa’s signature avant-garde flourishes, sets the scene as a dystopian future unfolds. We get a glimpse of a world obsessed with conformity and the strange Central Scrutinizer that enforces it. Joe’s life takes a turn when a mysterious chrome-plated woman named Lucille rolls into his garage, setting him on a path of rebellion, romance, and ultimately, musical exile.
