Bad Religion – Suffer

Suffer is the third studio album by American punk rock band Bad Religion, released on September 8, 1988 by Epitaph Records. It is considered one of the most influential and important punk rock albums of all time, and inspired many bands in the genre, such as NOFX, Pennywise, and Rise Against. The album features 15 tracks of fast, melodic, and politically charged hardcore punk, with lyrics that deal with social issues, personal struggles, and criticism of religion. Some of the most popular songs from the album are “You Are (The Government)”, “Suffer”, “Do What You Want”, and “Best for You”. Suffer was the first album that was both released and distributed by Epitaph Records, the independent label founded by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz¹. The album was recorded in April 1988 at Westbeach Recorders, a studio owned by Gurewitz, and produced by the band themselves. Suffer received critical acclaim from both fans and critics, and has been ranked among the best albums of the 1980s by various publications.
