Battles – Mirrored

Mirrored is the debut studio album by American experimental rock band Battles. It was released on May 14, 2007 in the United Kingdom, and on May 22, 2007 in the United States by Warp Records.¹ The album is a combination of electronic beats, guitar riffs, keyboard melodies, and vocal samples, creating a sound that is both complex and catchy. Battles described Mirrored as a “pop” album that challenges the conventional notions of pop music.²

The album features 11 tracks, including the single “Atlas”, which was also featured in the video game LittleBigPlanet. The songs are mostly instrumental, with occasional vocals that are distorted and manipulated by various effects. Battles collaborated with producers Keith Souza and Seth Manchester at Machines with Magnets studio in Rhode Island.

Mirrored received critical acclaim upon its release and is considered by many critics to be one of the best albums of 2007. It was ranked at number 105 on Pitchfork’s list of the top 200 albums of the 2000s.³ The album has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide as of 2011.
