Halsey – If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power

Halsey’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power is a bold and conceptually rich album released on August 27, 2021. Produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails, the record marks a departure from Halsey’s previous work, embracing a darker, industrial sound that complements its themes of pregnancy and childbirth. Halsey described the album as an exploration of the “joys and horrors” of these experiences, blending vulnerability with raw power.

The album features standout tracks like “I am not a woman, I’m a god,” “You Asked for This,” and “Girl is a Gun,” showcasing Halsey’s ability to merge introspective lyrics with dynamic, genre-defying production. The theatrical quality of the music is further emphasized by a companion IMAX film, which visually interprets the album’s narrative.
