Miles Davis – Agharta

$64.95 Inc. GST

Agharta is a live double album by the American jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Miles Davis. It was recorded on February 1, 1975, at the Osaka Festival Hall in Japan and released in August 1975 by CBS/Sony. The album is considered a landmark in the development of jazz-rock fusion.

The album features a lineup of musicians that includes Davis on trumpet, along with Sonny Fortune on alto saxophone and flute, Pete Cosey on guitar, Reggie Lucas on guitar and synthesizer, Michael Henderson on bass guitar, Mtume on drums and percussion, and Al Foster on drums. The music on Agharta is characterized by its dense, improvised textures and its use of electronic instruments.

The album was met with mixed reviews upon its release. Some critics praised it as a groundbreaking work of music, while others found it to be inaccessible and chaotic. However, Agharta has since been reassessed and is now considered to be one of Miles Davis’s most important recordings.
