Neutral Milk Hotel – On Avery Island (Limited Red & Yellow Vinyl)

$65.95 Inc. GST

On Avery Island is the debut studio album by American indie rock band Neutral Milk Hotel. It was released on March 26, 1996, on Merge Records. The album was the second release for Neutral Milk Hotel, following their first EP “Everything Is,” and it was recorded by the band’s frontman, Jeff Mangum, along with additional musicians.

The title of the album refers to Avery Island, a salt dome island in southern Louisiana. The album features a mix of folk, indie rock, and psychedelic elements and is known for its raw and lo-fi production style. Jeff Mangum’s distinctive voice and poetic lyrics are central to the album’s appeal.

While “On Avery Island” didn’t gain as much attention upon its initial release as the band’s later album, “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea,” it has since gained a cult following. The band, particularly Jeff Mangum, is celebrated for their unique sound and emotionally charged performances. The album includes tracks like “Song Against Sex,” “Gardenhead/Leave Me Alone,” and “Naomi.”
