Return To Forever Featuring Chick Corea ‎– Hymn Of The Seventh Galaxy VG+/VG+

Return to Forever’s Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy marked a dramatic shift in the group’s direction, moving away from the Latin-infused jazz of its earlier incarnation toward a more powerful and electrified fusion sound. With Chick Corea joined by Bill Connors, Stanley Clarke, and Lenny White, the album channels extraordinary energy and technical brilliance into music that feels both adventurous and intensely focused. The interplay between the musicians is exceptional, with soaring guitar lines, dynamic keyboard work, and a rhythm section that combines complexity with relentless drive.

Despite its formidable virtuosity, the album is never simply an exercise in technique. The compositions are filled with momentum, atmosphere, and a sense of exploration, moving fluidly between moments of ferocious intensity and passages of lyrical beauty. Corea’s writing provides a strong framework for improvisation while maintaining a clear melodic identity throughout. Bold, innovative, and influential, Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy stands as one of the landmark recordings of the jazz fusion era and a defining statement from one of the genre’s most celebrated groups.
