Autechre‎– Confield (2023 repress)

Autechre’s Confield, released in 2001, marked a shift in their sound. Previously known for warmer ambient works, Confield dives into a more chaotic and abstract soundscape. This album utilizes computer programs like Max/MSP to generate the foundation of the tracks, rather than traditional synthesizers. The resulting sound is complex and experimental, less club-friendly and more focused on sonic exploration. While still classified as IDM (intelligent dance music), Confield incorporates elements of ambient, glitch, and experimental genres.
