St Germain – 10th Anniversary African Project Remixes (RSD 2026)

10th Anniversary African Project Remixes reframes St Germain’s deep‑house vocabulary through a prism of African rhythmic intelligence, turning the original material into something looser, earthier, and more conversational. The remixes lean into polyrhythms, hand‑played percussion, and warmer instrumental colours, giving the tracks a lived‑in physicality that contrasts with the sleek, dub‑inflected glide of the source album. What’s striking is how naturally the pieces adapt: the melodic fragments and smoky chords become anchors for grooves that feel communal rather than club‑centric, stretching out in ways that highlight space, repetition, and subtle improvisation. The mood is celebratory without being overstated, a kind of rolling, sun‑drenched momentum that keeps shifting its centre of gravity. It plays like a dialogue between electronic architecture and traditional pulse, each side reshaping the other until the distinction blurs and the record settles into a warm, unhurried flow.
